LMI UK Directors Nick Howes and Silje Howes had the great privilege of sharing LMI’s Making of a Champion foundation workshop with around 150 young people at Stockton Sixth Form College this week as part of a careers development event that also included interviews with two current apprentices working at AV Dawson (Port of Middlesbrough). Students also heard from other members of the AV Dawson team about the exciting and varied career opportunities they have available.
“Not a week goes by without one of our clients saying they wish they’d learnt the leadership skills we share with them as adults when they were in school,” said Nick.
“This opportunity to do just that – to share key ideas and practical tools on subjects like goal setting, identifying your strengths and self-motivation – is one we would, quite literally, travel the length of the country to be involved with!”
This foundations workshop is the introduction to LMI’s 10-module youth development programme The Making of a Champion and those attending this event were invited to register their interest in participating in this extended course.
All parties involved – LMI UK, the college, AV Dawson and Tees Valley Careers are committed to the ongoing development of local ‘Champions’ in the region and the sense is that this is only the very beginning of a very exciting partnership.
